Rosa is a member of the Communal Bank Damas de Exitos. They meet every two weeks in an area outside the city of Portoviejo, Province of Manabi. This is a tourist area because of its beautiful beaches that attract national and international tourists all year long. Rosa has gone through 5 cycles with the little bank with the loans she has gotten to be able to continue with her business as a street vendor of shoes. With her daughter she has had a spot in the business district of Portoviejo for 20 years. Her work schedule is from 8 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon, Monday through Sunday, offering shoes for the whole family. Rosa tells us that it was her brother who helped her to have her own business, since the whole family participates in this kind of activity. With this new loan she will travel to Guayaquil, where she will buy athletic, casual and informal shoes and sandals from wholesalers for the beach season. She will then make more profit, especially during this time of year which is very good for business. Rosa, along with the other memebrs, has her dream and doesn't discount the possibiilty of having a more spacious and comfortable locale to give a better service to her clients...
