Namuddu Shamim is 35 years old and the leader of her lending group in Jinja. She is a friendly business lady with a kiosk on Kiira road in Jinja, where she sells cold drinks of various kinds, chips, and other confectioneries. She has owned her kiosk for four years and she is grateful that her business started with a loan and it still goes on. She is able to make about 120,000 Ugandan shilling (UGX) in profits each week, and she makes sure that she always handles her customers well for better profits. She hopes to expand her kiosk further, buy a plot of land for her two children and her stepchildren, and, together with her husband, pay for their further education. Shamim needs a loan to be able to invest more in her business as well as pay school fees for her children.
