Elizabeth Acuña is currently separated. She has always had a business, through which she alone educated her five children. Initially she was a cabinet-maker, then after a productive time, she gave this business to her son and decided to sell paper and miscellaneous supplies, which would be profitable and less demanding. She arrived with her small children in the Barlovento neighborhood in the city of Barranquilla. She lived in a house of lath and plaster. With her discipline in managing her business income, she has provided a home for her 5 children. This is her second loan through the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation, the first having been repaid punctually. That loan allowed her to supply her business, and it has become more productive. Currently she requires financing in the amount of $675 to purchase office supplies such as cards, pens, colored pens, pencils, decorations, hooks, and other accessories in order to diversify her inventory. Her goal is to open a branch in the Los Olivos neighborhood, since she has a house there that could be staffed by her daughter, so that she too could work independently, since currently she is her mother's best helper.
