Jonathan Liebesman began his professional directing career with a number of studio horror movies that weren't particularly well-received, but undaunted, he's back, tackling his most ambitious film to date, Battle: Los Angeles , a uniquely high concept war movie featuring a group of Marines led by Aaron Eckhart facing an alien invasion and trying to save a number of survivors who have been caught in the crossfire. It's the first alien invasion movie in a year chock-full of them, and it certainly wears its references on its sleeve as it pays homage to everyone from Paul Greengrass and Ridley Scott to Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay, which should offer enough to satisfy both those looking for a cool alien invasion movie or those who just enjoy a gritty war movie.ComingSoon.net...
