THOUSANDS of screaming fans turned out to greet Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner at the premiere of the penultimate film in the Twilight Saga.
Many waited for days to catch a glimpse of the stars of the vampire fantasy film walking the black carpet at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Monday night.
Large crowds are also expected in London for the British screening on Wednesday.
Asked if she thought such a phenomenon could ever happen again, Kristen said: "I hope it does. You'd have to be a sociopath not to be affected by the energy in here, and the reason I do this is to have a shared energy, to love something.
"I mean you have it with directors, and you have it with writers and to have it with this many people is an entirely unique experience, so I don't know if it'll happen again, but I hope so."
Kristen - who reprises her role as Bella Swan in the fourth instalment of the franchise, Breaking Dawn: Part One - vamped it up in a long purple and black sequinned gown with a thigh-high split, while British actor Robert, her real-life partner, wore a slim-fitting grey suit.
R-Patz said he will miss working with the Twilight cast. He explained: "I mean it sounds kind of cheesy but it's like I went to school with them for five years - 21 to 25 - so it feels funny leaving."
Robert, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, and Taylor are expected to attend the UK premiere at Westfield Stratford in east London on Wednesday night.
Breaking Dawn: Part Two will not be released until next November.
