Young Spider-Man causes chaos in X-Men scribe Josh Schwartz's directing debut Fun Size

fun-size-poster.jpgBACK in 2008, Josh Schwartz - executive producer on TV series The O.C., Chuck and Gossip Girl - was hired to write the script for X-Men: First Class.

Early in 2009, he clarified that he was not set to helm the film because "I would be terrified to have the first thing I direct be a giant franchise movie."

And then in 2010, Bryan Singer came on board and started afresh, scrapping Schwartz's screenplay in favour of his own concept of an origin story set during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

We don't know exactly what Josh's mutant adventure entailed but, nevertheless, he is now making his feature film directing debut on the upcoming Halloween-themed comedy Fun Size.

The story sees a teen girl's plan to attend a huge Halloween party - thrown by the guy she likes - go awry when she's put in charge of her oddball little brother. Dressed as Spider-Man, the youngster wanders off on his own.

A new poster has been issued for the film, which stars Victoria Justice, Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), Chelsea Handler and Josh Pence (The Dark Knight Rises, The Social Network, Battleship). Schwartz also appears in the movie, playing a shop worker.

The trailer is included below. Among other geek-friendly costumed characters making an appearance at the Halloween party are Stefan Gatt as Hulk, Zamani Munashe as Spider Girl, Bobby Thomas as an older Spider-Man, Latecia Wilson as a female Zorro, Allison Rowe as Iron Girl, Bob Garry as Chewbacca, Abigail Garry as Princess Leia and Amanda Garry as Han Solo.

Fun Size is released in UK cinemas on October 26, 2012.
