FOR the first time ever, fans walked the red carpet on the web and took part in a Google+ Hangout with electropop group LCD Soundsystem at the premiere of their new concert film Shut Up and Play the Hits.
The Google+ Hangout team streamed a live Q&A session, hosted by Radio 1's Edith Bowman, in which the band answered questions from fans live from the world premiere of their documentary.
Ahead of the Q&A session, Google, Pulse Films and DFA Records invited fans to submit their questions.
The band's frontman James Murphy and the film's directors Will Southern and Dylan Lovelace joined Edith Bowman in the cinema to participate in the Q&A while the rest of the band tuned in from New York City via the Hangout.
The event was the first of its kind linking a film premiere through Google+ to other cinemas and fans from across the globe.
The Q&A session was livestreamed from London's Hackney Picturehouse to 60 other cinemas that also premiered the documentary about the band's final concert.
It was on April 2, 2011, that LCD Soundsystem played their final show at Madison Square Garden. Frontman James Murphy had made the conscious decision to disband the group at the peak of their popularity, ensuring they would go out on top with the biggest and most ambitious concert of their career.
The instantly sold out, near four-hour extravaganza did just that, moving the thousands in attendance to tears of joy and grief, with New York Magazine calling the event "a marvel of pure craft" and Time magazine lamenting "we may never dance again."
Shut Up and Play The Hits, released on September 4, is both a narrative film documenting this once-in-a-lifetime performance and an intimate portrait of James Murphy as he navigates the lead-up to the show, the day after, and the personal and professional ramifications of his decision.

The film will be released on DVD on October 8. It is available...
Today, I overheard a conversation that had me traveling on the way-back time machine. Apparently in the olden days, a TV was expected to take a few minutes (at least) to warm up! Television sets used to need at least 5 minutes to warm up from what was called a "cold start". A cold start in progress was signaled by the screen lighting up in an odd pattern and and making strange clicking sounds. The old sets used to have what was called a sub-power switch in the rear, this switch was also called the vacation switch.
...BACK in 2008, Josh Schwartz - executive producer on TV series The O.C., Chuck and Gossip Girl - was hired to write the script for X-Men: First Class.
Early in 2009, he clarified that he was not set to helm the film because "I would be terrified to have the first thing I direct be a giant franchise movie."
And then in 2010, Bryan Singer came on board and started afresh, scrapping Schwartz's screenplay in favour of his own concept of an origin story set during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
We don't know exactly what Josh's mutant adventure entailed but, nevertheless, he is now making his feature film directing debut on the upcoming Halloween-themed comedy Fun Size.
The story sees a teen girl's plan to attend a huge Halloween party - thrown by the guy she likes - go awry when she's put in charge of her oddball little brother. Dressed as Spider-Man, the youngster wanders off on his own.
A new poster has been issued for the film, which stars Victoria Justice, Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), Chelsea Handler and Josh Pence (The Dark Knight Rises, The Social Network, Battleship). Schwartz also appears in the movie, playing a shop worker.
The trailer is included below. Among other geek-friendly costumed characters making an appearance at the Halloween party are Stefan Gatt as Hulk, Zamani Munashe as Spider Girl, Bobby Thomas as an older Spider-Man, Latecia Wilson as a female Zorro, Allison Rowe as Iron Girl, Bob Garry as Chewbacca, Abigail Garry as Princess Leia and Amanda Garry as Han Solo.
Fun Size is released in UK cinemas on October 26, 2012.
