Comic Book Bites: Hulk TV series awaiting rewrite; Captain America 2 recruits Anthony Mackie

Marvel the Falcon artwork.jpgWITH Mark Ruffalo's Hulk being such a smash hit in The Avengers, you may be wanting more of the green giant - and it seems his next appearance will be in a planned TV series set to air on ABC in 2013.

As far as we know, the series will be separate from the film version and focus on a younger Bruce Banner, so don't expect Ruffalo to be in it.

In the latest update, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, who is developing the show, says it is still moving forward and is due to get a script overhaul.

Anthony Mackie.jpgHe told MTV: "I have had a couple of minutes with Marvel since The Avengers and they have the screenplay. We're waiting for a particular writer to do a rewrite on the pilot. That's where we are right now. But we're still on."

Definitely getting a further big-screen outing is Captain America, with sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier arriving in cinemas on April 4, 2014.

Marvel Studios recently recruited Anthony Mackie (pictured right) for the film, with reports saying he is in negotiations to play Sam Wilson aka the Falcon.

The Falcon (pictured top) - who appeared in Marvel's pages in 1969 and was the first African-American hero in mainstream comics - has a winged suit that enables him to fly and can also form telepathic links with birds.

Mackie's credits include The Hurt Locker, The Adjustment Bureau, Real Steel and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, while he recently campaigned to play Black Panther in another of Marvel's planned superhero movies.
