What's Big about Inuyasha VIZBIG?

Inuyasha VIZBIG volume2Inuyasha VIZBIGVolume 2 is out! It compiles volumes 4 through 6 ofInuyasha in a larger 5 3/4-inch-by-8 5/8-inchsize. And Inuyasha VIZBIG editions are printed inthe original right-to-left format.

Seems like Ifinished working on Inuyasha VIZBIG Volume 2 justyesterday (wink wink)! The great thing about putting together VIZBIGeditions is that I can work my way through the earlier volumes ofInuyasha, enjoying the story and characters asthey develop. I haven’t read a Takahashi manga as closely as this sincemy first encounter with her work in university (let’s just say that wasa long time ago), and it’s great to be able to look on it with moreappreciative eyes.

I don’t know how Takahashiherself feels about it, but Inuyasha seems to meto be her magnum opus. Certainly, it’s her longest series. Fans willdebate about its triumphs and flaws, but it’s clearly the workTakahashi-sensei will be remembered for and associated with themost.

Of course Takahashi has a large body of work,and looking at her longer running series — UruseiYatsura, Ranma ½ andInuyasha — is very interesting. You can see thedevelopment of her skills as both an artist and astoryteller.

Now this is just my opinion, but theTakahashi manga that stands...
