The II Latin America Special Olympics Games were officially inaugurated on Saturday in a colorful opening ceremony held at the Hiram Bithorn stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, host city of the grand event. Before a crowd of more than 12,000 spectators, over 1,000 athletes from 33 delegations participating in these Special Olympics Games wore their uniforms with pride as they paraded into the stadium accompanied by a slideshow of sights and sounds of their countries, transmitted to the crowd via two enormous screens, and, highlighting the history and tourist attractions of each place.
