THE STARS of The Boondock Saints are to appear at the SXSW film festival tomorrow to launch a new video game spin-off.
The 1999 cult movie was directed by Troy Duffy and starred Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as non-identical twins Connor and Murphy MacManus.
The brothers kill two Russian Mafia members in self-defence and then decide they must rid their home city of Boston of all crime and evil, joined by their friend David Della Rocco and with FBI agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe) in pursuit.
The movie spawned a sequel in 2009 plus a companion comic (right) that was brought to San Diego Comic-Con in 2010 by Duffy, Flanery and Rocco.
Austin-based production company Critical Mass Interactive is now developing a Boondock Saints video game.
Flanery, Reedus and Rocca will be at SXSW, in Austin, Texas, at 3pm on Sunday, March 11, for a panel discussion at the Arcade Stage in the Palmer Events Centre.
The panel will reveal a teaser trailer for the game, providing fans with the first look at the forthcoming "full-on co-op shooter." Troy Duffy will give a special video message.
Matt Scibilia, president of Critical Mass Interactive, will also be on hand to discuss the game development.
Following the panel discussion, there will be an autograph session and prize raffles.
Fans can purchase merchandise including T-shirts ($15) and exclusive game posters ($10).
The signing session will last 30 minutes (first come, first served). The actors will be charging for their autographs as follows: Sean Patrick Flanery ($30), Norm Reedus ($30) and David Della Rocco ($25).
