The Amazing Spider-Man's new villains: Rhys Ifans' big-screen Lizard and video game's Rhino revealed in full

The Amazing Spider-Man 2012 video game still.jpgTHIS summer sees the return of Marvel Comics' friendly neighbourhood web-spinner, with a new film The Amazing Spider-Man out on July 4 and an accompanying video game on June 29.

Sam Raimi's previous trilogy brought us villains in the form of Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, New Goblin, Sandman and Venom - with Dylan Baker's Dr Curt Connors remaining in the background and never achieving a transformation into the Lizard.

Baker's journey to the reptilian dark side would probably never have happened in the planned Spider-Man 4 either, because that was set to feature John Malkovich as Vulture and Anne Hathaway as Felicia Hardy (who, bizarrely, would not have become her comic book alter-ego Black Cat but was instead destined to turn into the Vulturess).

However, Raimi's Spider-Man 4 collapsed after over various behind-the-scenes script battles and this summer's new movie is a fresh start with Marc Webb directing and Andrew Garfield in the starring role.

It emerged that the villain will be Rhys Ifans as Dr Curt Connors who is finally undergoing the character's long-awaited scaly metamorphosis.

And we now have a much clearer idea of how the Lizard will look on screen, courtesy of some images on Marvel Movies.

The Amazing Spider-Man The Lizard sneak peek.jpg

The Amazing Spider-Man still Lizard versus Spider-Man.jpgThe Lizard is lacking the white lab coat and long snout of the comic book version and reaction has been mixed. Is it good or bad? feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments section.

In addition, another villain is being brought to life in The Amazing Spider-Man video game, which has been developed by Beenox and will be published by Activision. It will swing on to Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo DS.

The latest images have revealed that Rhino will be among the baddies. The video game's version of the comic book behemoth will be created when a corrupt businessman stumbles across Dr Connors' notes for human enhancement using the DNA of other creatures - obviously, this time a rhinoceros is th...

Hit So Hard - Trailer

When Nirvana burst onto the scene in 1991, the music they played spoke directly to an angry and disenfranchised generation. As grunge took over MTV and radio, the music industry was transformed overnight. But just three years later, the drug-related deaths of several musicians, capped by the suicide of Kurt Cobain, closed the books on an all too brief era. HIT SO HARD follows the rise to fame (and the near-fatal fall from it) of Patty Schemel, drummer for Courtney Love's seminal rock band, Hole. Given a Hi-8 video camera just before Hole's infamous Live Through This world tour, Patty captured stunningly intimate footage of the scene that has never been seen... until now. Not just an all-access backstage pass to the music that shaped a generation, HIT SO HARD is a harrowing tale of overnight success, the cost of addiction, and ultimately, recovery and redemption.
