Stan Lee's new Chinese superhero The Annihilator heads to big screen

FORMER Marvel Comics president and chairman Stan Lee is still in the business of inventing superheroes - and now his latest creation is heading to the big screen.

Lee, 88, co-created such classic characters as Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

This summer he helped launch film finance company Magic Storm Entertainment - a partnership of Lee's Pow! Entertainment, Hong Kong-based Ricco Capital Holdings and Fidelis Entertainment - to bring his latest characters to life, especially for Asian audiences.

Variety's Showblitz reports that Magic Storm has hired Dan Gilroy, one of the writers on Hugh Jackman's robot boxing movie Real Steel, to adapt The Annihilator into a movie.

The character is described as "a young Chinese man given a second chance as an international superhero who returns home to mete out justice."
