Never mind Madonna's performance, all the fanboys' eyes were on Marvel Studios' brand new trailer for The Avengers shown during the TV advertising breaks.
It contains a lot of previously unseen footage, including a fleeting glimpse of Loki's mysterious, airborne army whizzing about and our first good look at the Hulk. It also shows the entire team assembled in costume.
The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, stars Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
The trailer is exciting although the dialogue stills feel uninspired apart from one snappy exchange when Loki tells Tony Stark/Iron Man 'I've got an army' and Stark replies 'We've got a Hulk.'
The Avengers is released on April 27 in the UK and May 4 in the USA.
