A SCENE in which viewers get a glimpse of Captain America's shield during Iron Man 2 has earned a place on a countdown of most-paused film moments.
In a nod to fans, Robert Downey Jr's character Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, uses a plastic replica of the iconic shield to prop up a loose pipe. It was enough to get viewers reaching for the pause button on their DVD/Blu-ray players.
We'll be seeing the real shield in use - along with the hero himself - in Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger, released on July 29.
Scenes from Star Wars and Tron also make the new list, compiled by subscription service LOVEFiLM.
Top place goes to Sharon Stone's indecent exposure when her character Catherine Tramell uncrosses and crosses her legs during a police interrogation in the 1992 erotic thriller Basic Instinct.
Coming in eighth is a classic scene from Disney favourite The Lion King in which an exhausted Simba collapses at the edge of a cliff face, sending clouds of dust spiralling into the air.
Despite many believing the dust particles spelled out something naughty, the letters are most likely to spell out S.F.X, an abbreviation for the Special Effects used in the animation process.
The Top Ten Most-Paused Movie Moments:
1. Sharon Stone crossing her legs - Basic Instinct (1992) - 31 %
2. Jennifer Lopez naked rear - The Back-Up Plan (2010) - 16%
