Christopher Nolan 'super-excited' about final Batman film, won't rule out Inception sequel

WHILE fans may want their favourite film series to go on forever, it rarely happens.

Exceptions that come to mind include James Bond, whose longevity is due to periodic recasting and reinventing; and Star Trek, which has also gone through changes and had a worryingly long absence from the cinema after Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002.

Batman had a previous four-film outing in the 90s (with Burton and then Schumacher at the helm) and the crusader's latest resurrection, under the aegis of Christopher Nolan, will conclude with a third movie in July 2012.

For those wanting Nolan's Batman to continue and delve ever deeper into the decades of comic book possibilities, it doesn't seem it will. Both he and franchise star Christian Bale have confirmed that The Dark Knight Rises will conclude the saga.

Christian Bale as Batman.jpgNolan told Entertainment Weekly's Inside Movies he was quite relieved to be moving on to The Dark Knight Rises rather than build another project from scratch, as he did with Inception.

He said: "I feel very glad that I'm doing another Batman film. I think it would have been daunting to sit down and write an original script after Inception.
