Maria Brandel from the Remansito de _C.D.E. started the current committee. She contacted her neighbors and friends to join the committee in her community. It is called Denomina San Roque and is in its 7th loan cycle with 18 members. The group is known in its neighborhood as being very loyal and responsible with each other.Each member has her own independent business that she works hard with to get ahead.Mrs. Juana Palma is one of the committee members and she sells cosmetics. With the first loan that she received she could begin her business, and now wants to improve it since every day she has more customers. Because of this she would like to build a room to show her products. She has been selling house to house with her customers and also selling in her home. Gloria Esther Marín Puello, lives in the Florida neighborhood located in Galapa, one of the most historical and culturally rich towns in the department of Atlántico. Where the production of clothing, wooden masks, straw crafts, paper mache, canvas paintings and dances are all activities that encourage the traditions of its inhabitants and enrich the most important festivals of Columbia� the Baranquilla Carnaval, a city located 15 minutes away.Gloria is married with four children between the ages of 21-31. She has a sewing and variety business that she began in 1972 with one artisanal sewing machine which she used to serve her neighborhood clients by making custom sized clothing. In 1990, she acquired a new sewing machine and serger which allowed her to maintain a stock of products and increase production of shirts, pants and women�"s dresses. With her business she has been able to generate additional income for her household and supplement her partner�"s contributions; thus, her children have finished high school and continue studying. Cascada is a medium-sized focal center located very near a soft-drink bottling plant called, "Cascada," that was very famous a few years ago. The "Roca Blanca" communal association is organizing itself with the goal to seek financing to push their businesses forward. The businesses are diverse: food sales, machine shop, welding, blanket weaving, cosmetics sales, multicolored woolen cloth and wood crafts, sweater weaving, sweatshirt making.Valentina Castaya is married and has 4 children: two boys and two girls. She wants to start her first loan in order to increase her working capital; she is a blanket weaver.These blankets go through a three-step process: first, the blanket itself is woven with whatever design is in fashion. Once a rectangle measuring 70x150 centimeters is attained, the member weaves the edges with a weaving hook making a special, 12 centimeter, design. Finally, long fringe, that had previously been knotted and twisted to encircle the blanket, is added. The blankets are sold in the 16 de Julio zone every Thursday and Sunday from 5am to 7 am.

Sali is a school teacher who enjoys a very good reputation for her commitment and being loved by her students and colleagues. Sali has been divorced recently and moved to live with her parents; she now helps them in taking care of household expenses. Martin is 56 years old and he is the president of a group called Abishyizehamwe. Martin and his team sell charcoal wholesale. This is their second successful year in this business. The hours of their business are from early in the morning until late in the evening hours.Martin and his team are requesting a Kiva loan via Vision Finance Company to expand their business by buying more charcoal to satisfy the demand of their customers. With this loan, this group hopes that their sales will increase, as well as their profits. The added profits will allow them to create many sources of income by reinvesting in the same business but in different locations. By expanding the business, each member of this group has a hope for the future.

Jaudin Prendas Flores is 22 years old, single, and lives with his parents, two sisters, and a niece. The loan he is requesting will be used to tend to his farm, specifically growing coffee. His plan is to buy compost and fertilizers so that he can adequately maintain his coffee crop, thereby achieving a better quality harvest and more income when he sells at market.
This is the first time he has received a loan from FUDECOSUR and is very happy with the services that have been provided to him. Don Jaudin has a few years of experience working in agriculture. He hopes to provide for his family�"s future by giving them a better quality of life and financial stability. In addition, he wants to continue growing as a person and as a producer.
