TV Catwoman star Julie Newmar in time-travel comic book
IT'S no secret that Catwoman is sharpening her claws for a reappearance on the big screen, with Anne Hathaway bringing her version of the feline femme fatale to Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
But before we see that new personification, Julie Newmar - who was the first actress to play the comic book character in the 1960s Batman TV series - is stepping back into the spotlight.
Bluewater Productions is reuniting Newmar with her caped crusader co-star Adam West and bringing her back to the comics world on which the iconic show was based.
Spinning off from The Misadventures of Adam West comic book, which becomes a regular series in December, comes The Secret Lives of Julie Newmar, launching in February 2012.
Fans will see Newmar in a new light. The story starts with the actress enjoying a quiet morning in her garden, when she is hijacked into the space-time continuum and dropped into the office of the top-secret organisation Hour Glass.
Newmar is implanted with a mysterious chip that will allow her to travel through time. Her assignment is to track down renegade scientist Dr Vertigo and his fiery assistant Onyx who are on an extended jaunt through time that may well have dire consequences for the universe and beyond, and to bring him back alive before he can do any damage. If Julie does not accept the assignment, she will never see her own time again.
"I think comic book fans will have fun as we travel through time and space," said Newmar. "We'll visit some of my favourite memories of my life and visit some amazing moments in history."
The series is drawn by Cindy Mehrlich and written by Marc Shapiro. According to Shapiro, both he and Newmar were in consistent communication about the style and direction of the stories.
"This series has been have been so much fun to do," said Shapiro. "And it is an homage to the kinds of stories that first appeared in the mid-60's. Secret Lives is just a straightforward adventure that will entert...

Watch What.. No, How You Are Saying
Sigard by Sound Intelligence is a patented software/closed circuit television system security package that can detect verbal aggression from individuals in wired public spaces, public transportation, prisons, nightclubs and bars. The technology is able to detect distinct sound patterns with a level of effectiveness similar to the human hearing. And yes Sigard is currently installed and in use. However, Sigard does not record conversations. It does not listen to what you saying. Sigard listens to how you say whatever it is you are saying. And it listens for changes in the human voice that happen in an aggressive situation.

GameStop makes up for Deus Ex wrong doing with $50 gift card
Just a few short days ago, PC gamers who have been long awaiting the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and purchased their copy of the game at GameStop were furious to learn that the free OnLive copy that was a special bonus with the game was not in the package. Why is that? Well, GameStop employees physically removed the download codes from each box and then repakaged them, which is unethical in the sense that they cheated customers out of the free bonus they were supposed to get and that they sold already opened games as brand new.
Why was this done? It likely has something to do with the fact that the OnLive streaming service is going to be competition for the soon to be launched and Game Stop owned streaming service Spawn Labs. Huh. On second thought, that makes this whole thing unethical on three fronts.
How did GameStop respond to this understandable consumer backlash? Well, the company sent out an apology email to their valued customers, which stated that they were each entitled to a couple of gifts because of the whole ordeal. Here's the email in full:
"Earlier this week, GameStop removed a competitor's coupon from standard edition PC versions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a recent release by Square Enix. We were not aware that the product box would contain this competitor's offer. We regret the events surrounding this title release and that our customers were put in the middle of this issue between GameStop and Square Enix, the publisher of this game. And for this, we are truly sorry."
That's all well and good but it doesn't make this situation any less shady. Especially when they are currently recalling all regular editions of the PC version so they can be replaced with copies that don't have the OnLive code.
Square Enix, which happens to be the publisher for Deus Ex, sent out a response as well, but don't expect them to share your hatred for GameStop:
"As part of Deus Ex: Human Revolution's boxed offering on PC, Square Enix included a third-party co...

Minecraft becomes a life and death struggle
Mojang, the development team behind the indie phenomena Minecraft are among the industry bigwig s at PAX and during their time at the podium, they revealed some of the new gameplay elements that will be added to the next Minecraft update. And I have to say that the world of Minecraft is never going to be the same again!
When it comes to weaponry, players will be able to draw arrows back even further when using their bows, so they will now be able to hit targets that are more than a few feet away and the arrow will also dish out more damage. However, holding the bow and arrows does have one draw back, players will move slower when they have them drawn. Still it's definitely going to be worth the extra fire power.
Some new enemies will be making the world a slightly scarier place. The Endermen are monsters that will go in for the kill everytime you make direct eye contact and don't think you can simply runaway because they will teleport to your location constantly. However, they are weak against water, so make sure to dive for cover in the nearest lake. Silverfish will be hiding inside of blocks, you know, the ones you mine. So, each time you smash your way through blocksto build your civilization, you could pit yourself in a struggle of life and death. Oh. and if these two new enemies don't make your virtual life scary enough, spiders will become more powerful. They will now have the power to poison you, which will of course drain your life. Damn! Does everything want to kill you?
There will also be some new NPCs and quests added into the mix as well, although they were not revealed. What was revealed was that players will earn Skill Points every time they kill a monster and said points will be lost if you happen to die. So, the whole survival thing is going to be pretty important.
Was anything else added? Ah yes. There is a "Hunger Meter" now, which means eating will not only regain lost health, it will also be necessary to stay a live. The "Hunger Meter" will have to...
