Director Peter Jackson Hospitalized but he's OK

I just wanted to quickly let you know that a statement has been released by a publicist for The Hobbit films today telling us that Peter Jackson has had an emergency surgery. Here's what they had to say,

Sir Peter Jackson was admitted to Wellington Hospital on Wednesday night with acute stomach pains. He subsequently underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer. Sir Peter is currently resting comfortably and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Sir Peter's surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to The Hobbit beyond a slight delay to the start of filming.

The two movies are expected to start filming soon for December 2012 and December 2013 release dates.

First Casting News for [REC] GENESIS

 

                                     

Blooding-Disgusting has reported that Leticia Dolera has been cast alongside Diego Martin for [REC] Genesis. As we reported last year, Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero will split directing duties for the final two films in the franchise, [REC] Genesis and [REC] Apocalypse.

Plaza will direct [REC] Genesis, which will return to the origin of the original infection that caused humans to turn into zombies and is scheduled to hit in the fall. [REC] Apocalypse will be directed by Balaguero and will end the [REC] series with the pandemic spreading to unknown proportions and is scheduled to hit in the fall of 2012.

Plot:

The action in [REC] GENESIS encompasses the events of the first two films and after the sense of claustrophobia previously experienced. The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight, giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies, this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment - the future [REC] Apocalypse.

Sleek, elegant, refined. All words the common man uses in reference to things not Sony's handheld gaming systems, until now?

At least that's the way I'm understanding it as Sony unveilled the Sony NGP, the official name of "PSP2".

So what's under the 5 inch high resolution OLED screen you ask? 3G, no UMD drive, dual analog sticks, and front and rear touch (lawl).

I would embed a cool video for everyone to witness the awesome power of the machine, unfortunately, Sony did not showcase a working model of their device (out this holiday season!) unless a sticker of a screenshot of Uncharted placed over the screen is the next gen madness we didn't know about.

So there it is...and while I don't feel the need to further speculate, your comments are always appreciated.

BLACK SWAN'S Mark Heyman To Write AGE OF RAGE Script For Marc Webb

Mark Heyman is set to write Age of Rage, a sophisticated sci-fi project set up at Fox Searchlight with Marc Webb attached to direct. Mason Novick worked with Webb on (500) Days of Summer and is set to co-produce Rage with Webb.

Heyman co-wrote the screenplay for Black Swan with John McLaughlin and Andres Heinz. He began his career as an assistant to Darren Aronofsky before moving on as a senior vp at Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures. He recently was offered a gig adapting the cybernetic thriller Machine Man, set up at Mandalay, that would reunite him with Aronofsky.

Rage takes place in a post-apocalyptic society where all the adults have died forcing a group of teens to work at establishing a new society.

Webb is currently had at work filming Spider-Man and hasn’t made any decisions of his next project. Rage is based on an idea from Webb so this may likely be one of his next projects.

I have been very impressed with Marc Webb and Heyman did an amazing job on Black Swan.  This sounds like a cool story, and one that will bend the mind. What are your thoughts on this news?
